Happy 24 weeks to Vivien!
We had a pretty eventful week, lots to talk about.
First things first though:
A couple 24 week-ers
Today at work, Aubrey said,
"It finally looks like you have a baby in there!"
YAY! About time!
We went to the doctor on Tuesday, everything is still looking great! I just have to say, EVERYONE in Dr. England's office is SO nice-the secretaries, the nurses, and Dr. England himself, holy cow, I highly recommend them! Before my appointment, the nurse, Ashley, saw me in the hall and said hi to me by name, I thought that was really impressive.
So anyway, each time I go to the doc, my blood pressure gets a little bit lower, must mean I'm getting less nervous being there! We found Vivien's heartbeat RIGHT off, literally the second the doppler touched my belly. Good feeling. Dr. England started off by going over our anatomy ultrasound (we haven't seen him since we had it done), he said everything is completely normal and looking fantastic! Phew!
I had 2 questions this week:
Q1. My mom had to have all of her kids via C-section, since we are built so similarly, will I most
likely need to have a C-section also?
A1. We won't know until we get a little bit closer. Since I got both my mom AND dad's genes, there is no way to be certain quite yet.
Q2. Every time I work out, I get a really sharp pain around my right hip bone, is this normal?
A2. As long as the pain goes away when I stop exercising, then it's completely normal. There is a lot of stretching and cramming in there lately, so there will be some discomfort. I may need to slow down on my exercises though (not that I'm going intense at all these days).
On my next appointment, I have to do the glucose test. Lovely. I haven't drank anything but water for the past 3 years, so I really am curious as to how this is going to be for me. Oyy! I love it, Chris comes to each of my appointments with me, he is so cute, he loves everything there is to do with our baby Viv.
I was pretty dang sick this week. I had a KILLER cold, I even had to call in sick one day and leave early another day. My sinuses were full of pressure, I could barely breath, my head hurt so bad, and I couldn't sleep at all. Holy miserable, especially since I refuse to take any meds. Our doc insisted that I take a Sudafed, so I finally did (only 1 though), and I really think it helped. I'm basically better by now.
Weirdest story:
Yesterday and the day before, my legs were KILLING me. Oh my heck I wanted to cry (I didn't though, so impressive haha!) It hurt so bad and I couldn't sleep, it felt like they were aching from the inside and that I always needed to shake them to make the pain go away. I googled it and found Restless Leg Syndrome, which is common in pregnancy. I then looked up things to relieve the pain, I tried everything they suggested.
-Yoga
-Walking
-Hot pad
-Iron pill
-Warm tub
-Massage
-Eating bananas
-Elevating legs
Nothing seemed to be working. Then, I saw something funny, a website said to sleep with a bar of soap in your sheets at the bottom of the bed. Silly. So, I googled "restless leg syndrome bar of soap" and there were SO many things about it. A billion people swear by it and say it heals their leg pains. I decided to give it a try, what did I have to lose? GUESS WHAT!? I didn't lose a wink of sleep, my legs feel completely better. What the heck?! It makes no sense at all. Look it up, there is a bunch of stuff on it and no one is quite sure why it works. Maybe it's just in my head, but I think it's pretty awesome!
I thought this was so nice. Yesterday, I walked into work and Erin said, "Cami, you look so good and so healthy!" I loved that compliment, I don't think anyone has ever flat out told me that I look "healthy", it made me feel so good.
GREAT NEWS!
My mom made our bed skirt, maybe I've already mentioned that, but it looks SO cute. And then, our chair came today! Chris and I arranged the room, once we got everything in place, I got all teary-eyed, I just love it all so much and I can't wait for our baby to live there!
Our chair!
Here's Chris measuring stuff and being all manly
Here is the room as of right now, we have a few more ideas of things to put on the walls, but there won't be too much more to it! [Notice the cute poka-dot bed skirt! We still need to buy sheets and sew the bumpers.]
I have to mention how blessed we are. My dad made the dresser for me a few years ago and Chris's parents bought us the crib. So, the only thing we have had to purchase is the chair. We also are so grateful to my parents for letting us live here while Chris is in school, it has helped SO much and we can't thank them enough.
Vivien is 24 weeks today. 24 weeks is awesome because if she is born, she has a 50% chance of surviving, that goes up 10% each week from now on. We want her to stay in there as long as possible, but it's nice to know we are getting to some safe points, just in case. She is still kicking like a crazy monkey, Chris was actually able to see her kick through my belly this week! SO exciting!
Well, that's about it for this week. We love our baby girl so much, can't wait to meet her!
